Singles Information. This is a list of the singles policies of the clubs and resorts in the United States. (This list is being updated constantly.)

American Association for Naturist Family Recreation. We are a non-landed group of families who enjoy a clothing free lifestyle and recreational activities. We are glad to have any families who want to join us in events and activities to join our group and participate in any of the activities that we attend. We are a multi racial group and do not discriminate based on race, body structure, national origin, religion or age. We do however maintain a FAMILY atmosphere and do not allow single male memberships unless specific criteria are met. We also require that members under the age of 18 are required to have parental permission to obtain membership and attend any activities if the parent is not already a member. We believe that God made us in His own image and that image was as we were born...unclothed. We believe that all persons regardless of size, age, race, gender, etc., are created equal and that nudity in itself should not be considered unnaceptable in society. If you feel the same way, you are free to join our club, view our site and find others in your area that are similarily minded. We have strict codes of conduct and requirements of membership for the security of our members. Unlike many other similar clubs we do understand that the changing economy has its affects on all of us and therefore, we do not require membership in order to attend most of our events. Details are often listed in our calendar of each event and the option for non members to attend. We do have requirements for non members to attend events but it is for the best interest and safety of all our guests. Bay Area Naturists, San Jose. The Bay Area Naturists (BAN) is a travel club and consists of a loosely-knit collection of people in the San Francisco and Monterey Bay areas. Visit the site for more information.

Black's Beach was once a legal nude beach in San Diego. It is still tolerated as a traditional nude beach within a state park. Black's Beach Bares maintains a family friendly presence and informational bulletin boards. We also occasionally organize picnics. Visit the site for more information.

Camping Bares. We are a clothing-optional travel club not affiliated with a clothing-optional resort. We are located in Southern California with most members and activities centered on San Diego. The Camping Bares has been in continuous activity since 1976. As of December, 1997 our mailing list number was over 350; our membership is actually higher than that since many newsletters go to households with more than one Camping Bare. We do not discriminate against singles, married, gays, political affiliation national origin or anything of that sort, Individuals must be over the age of 18 years to join. Diablo Sun Devils Online Nudist Club was started by a Lovely Lady from Europe (Vera) who created the club primarily to promote naturism and help other women feel comfortable with nudity so that they might enjoy the many benefits of naturism... a very natural and healthy way of living. Glen Eden Sun Club, California. September 2008. I hadn’t been to a naturist resort since 2005, although I had been socially nude in the meantime. This year, I decided to take care of that. Looking at the reports on NetNude that were singles-friendly, I found a few that seemed like very nice places, icluding two in Calfornia. As I was going to spend my vacation in a near-by state, I decided to go to the Glen Eden Sun Club. I took a plane to L. A. from my earlier vacation place and rented a car to go to Corona. Glen Eden is a membership club that sometimes allows non-members to visit as prospective members, although I believe there is a quota for the number of visits before requiring membership. Prospective members also have to phone in before arriving. The lady who took my call asked me if I was aware it was a naturist resort. What I didn’t tell her was that Glen Eden was the reason I went to California in the first place! I rented a room for the night. I was asked a few questions (was this my first time at a naturist resort, etc.) and was checked-in. A few people walked in while we were doing the paperwork, some nude, some not. I waited outside a little bit for my room to be prepared. As I was waiting, a couple introduced themselves to me and told me they were going to give me a tour of the place (I have unfortunately forgotten their names). They had been living at Glen Eden since 1985, full-year… which was a nice reminder that while California might have earthquakes and terrible forest fires, it does not have Canadian winters. As I had read on their website (and as is posted above), the man told me I had to disrobe to take the tour. I took my clothes off and went on the tour with them. I had to sign a few papers about the resort etiquette and was gently but firmly told this was a family resort. It may seem strange, but I loved the tone in which I was spoken to. It was protective and yet open and friendly. It reassured me. I was at the right place for me. I felt welcome. I found my room (with air conditioning, small fridge and microwave, but no running water), left my things there, put sunscreen lotion on and went out to explore. I found a chaise lounge that was unoccupied, next to a couple. I asked them if it was taken and was told it wasn’t, so I put down my towel and began to read. The gender mix was quite good, very close to 50-50, with people of all ages. As this was a holiday weekend, I expected the place to be full, but it was the right crowd without being too crowded, so to speak. People were having fun, but this wasn’t a party crowd where there were people out of control. I went in the pool some time later. There were many people in it, but, there again, it was the right crowd. I was there to relax and I did. People gave each other a lot of room and respect. There’s an inside pool for those who enjoy playing water volleyball and other water sports. The end result was that I feel I have recuperated more from the single day at Glen Eden than in four days at the textile location. Next time, I’ll make sure to spend most of my vacation time at a naturist resort… Cheers! Thanks NewbieM for the report!

Gray Whale Cove State Beach, California. 2007. Gray Whale Cove State Beach is located just a few miles up Highway 1 from the town of Montera. (N. of Half Moon Bay). There is a good sized parking lot on the east side of the road (away from the ocean) and a safe but steep trail down to the beach. Actually the trail drops down about 50 feet from the road and then there are stairs the last 80 or so vertical feet to the beach. Looking out at the ocean, to the left (south) is a fairly large expanse of sand nestled in a cove with steep vertical rock cliffs. Surfers and families like this section and it is usually free of litter and over crowding. Heading north around a series of rocks jutting out into the surf (calm or violent depending on the time of year) is a much smaller beach. This beach historically has been a nude beach and the sheltering rocks and high cliffs on this end make it a good place to come on the days when the wind is blowing but the sun is still out. On the days that I have visited both beaches there were very few people. This is probably due to the somewhat strenuous walk down and up the steps and the trail to the parking lot. The nude section attracts about an equal percentage of males and females. The people that I have met seem to be a mellow nature lovers just looking for a place to get an all-over tan. Also, I have seen nude people on the south beach but that is not too common. There are more people there and that beach can be seen from the road above in a few places. That is not to say that you don't see nude people walking from one end of the two beaches to the other - you do. The water is far too cold to swim in and the waves even on a calm day make it extremely dangerous for a swimmer without a wet suit. Also, dogs are not allowed on either beach. If you are looking for a couple of pocket beaches for a quick stop (and a vigorous walk) or to spend the entire day in (or out of) a swimsuit, this is one of the best beaches in Northern California. Harbin Hot Springs in Middletown, California. February 2008. I had a half day to kill in San Francisco, so I went to Harbin Hot Springs in Middletown, CA. This is a famous new age hot springs retreat center with a clothing optional ethos. From San Francisco you go into the Napa Valley, and take route 29 east out of Calistoga, a wonderful curvy road up and down a pass. Harbin is at the end of Harbin Springs Road. You stop at the gate, register and pay ($25.00 for a day pass plus a $10.00 membership good for a month). I went to a (clothed) yoga class. Later I asked the instructor if anyone ever did yoga in the nude. He said that they did occasionally, but it made the instructors uneasy. He should go to the NYC nude yoga classes to get disabused of that notion. The pools are clothing optional but everyone was nude. You undress in a mixed undressing room with a large glass window looking out over the warm pool, take a soap shower (they provide the soap), and go soak. There are 5 - a meditation triad consisting of a large warm pool, a small very hot pool (115 degrees!) and a small cold pool. People rotate through them, silently. There is also a sign saying no conversation, glass vessels, smoking, or sex. There are two other pools - a heart shaped warm pool, and a regular swimming pool which was unheated and quite cold. There is also a sauna and a steam room. They have a spa offering various rubs and massages. I signed up for a watsu session - a water based shiatsu massage. The therapist and I were both nude. He put flotation bands on my legs, and then swirled me around in the warm pool for an hour, pressing various accupuncture sites, stretching, massaging, occasionally pressing me up against his body. We were both nude but it was totally non-sexual. There is a restaurant open for breakfast and dinner, and a market to buy lunch food. There are lots of hiking trials on the property, which is huge, and which can be hiked nude. On this particularly drizzly winter day I didn't feel like going too far from the pools. The new aginess is not too obtrusive - although the yoga was more meditative and less physically challenging than others I have done. Harbin Hot Springs Review. 2007. I have visited Harbin Hot Springs sporadically for the past 20 years. In 2007 I visited Harbin three times under three very different conditions. The three conditions were: * Hottest day of the year - too hot to walk on the pavement. Great day! * A pretty warm day but on a three day holiday weekend - try to avoid the three day weekends. Too many people! * And finally a cool rainy day on a Sunday in the fall - wonderful but the swimming pool was too cold - at least for me. (More on the great pool later.)... California Dreamin’ - Harbin Hot Springs. November 2007. This past November, my wife Barb and I took a mini vacation to the west coast for some much needed unwind time. We flew into San Francisco and being dedicated naturists, like to stay at nude venues as much as we possibly can when we travel; even if it’s only for a day or a night. So, instead of staying at a regular hotel, which we both get enough of (especially Barb) with work, opted to stay the night at Lupin Lodge south of 'Frisco' before heading north up the coast highway. After picking up our rental car and a light-traffic 40 min drive south, we arrived early afternoon and got settled into a yurt we had reserved. Although not 5 star quality, it was more than adequate; clean, quiet and comfortable. We stripped off our bothersome clothes and immediately headed to the hot tub and pool area for some welcome soaking after the 5 hr non-stop from the east coast. It was a late autumn, mid-week afternoon and as a result, there were only a few people about even though it was sunny and warm. But everyone who was there was very friendly to us 'right coasters'. We struck up a very nice lengthy conversation in the hot tub with a lovely woman from Alaska and ended up joining her for wine at sunset on the restaurant’s elevated deck with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains followed by a very nice meal in the dining room.Afterwards, another soak in the hot tub and we were ready to call it a night. The next morning we checked out with the nice office folks and headed north up the absolutely beautiful coast highway to the Redwoods. There were quite a few secluded beaches along the way that just begged for nude exploration, but it was a little cool and we wanted to get up to Eureka. After a couple of days enjoying/ hiking the grandeur of the Redwoods we headed south to what turned out to be the highlight of our trip, Harbin hot Springs. We almost made a decision before we planned our trip to not go to Harbin, as Barb had found a trip report of it that was less than enamoring. I think it was written by the same couple that posted a less than favorable report here on Netnude, although that is not where Barb read it. I believe she had seen their report on a non-naturist travel forum. It was due to RobC’s rebuttal report and posts here on Netnude that I convinced Barb that we should give it a try. Being how she enjoys hot springs, it wasn’t a hard sell. And let me tell you are we glad we did. Harbin is an incredible experience. The waters alone are certainly enough to make one never want to leave. That being said, one has to understand that Harbin is ‘New Age’ in every sense of the term, so it’s easy to see why this particular couple may have had their eyes opened a bit to something other than the Christian view they see and adhere to. But never once did anyone ever try to push any sort of beliefs or anything else on us. Not once. To the contrary, everyone was as friendly and non-confrontational as you can possibly imagine. Plus Barb learned about some homeopathic medicines that relieve allergic reactions she sometimes endures. Harbin allows couples to hug and embrace in the pools (this does not mean sexual contact), and this is possibly another thing that made the couple uncomfortable. Along with there being quite a few gay and lesbian couples who enjoy Harbin, as I mentioned before, it may have been a bit more than they're used to. Let’s face it, most nudist clubs frown on couples even holding hands, let alone embracing or hugging. However, we never witnessed ANY inappropriate behavior. Just couples holding each other in the hot pool (us included). And as an aside, there were plenty of singles of both sexes enjoying the waters along with a few families with children . As a matter of fact, unlike the lack of numbers at Lupin a few days before, Harbin had a LOT of people there. Putting aside the remarkable waters for a bit, let me say that the tranquility and requested and observed quietness of the place is something that is a most welcome deviation from everyday hectic, noisy life (cell phones are prohibited anywhere on the property, including your room). The grounds are clothing optional except for inside the restaurant, café, store etc. The restaurant is primarily vegetarian, and all the meals we had were excellent. The community kitchen is strictly vegan. You can check out detailed descriptions of the waters, pools, accommodations etc at their website at harbin.org. I have to add that Barb and I treated ourselves each to a different type of massage during our visit and we both came away marveling at how good we felt. I'm not kidding, you can choose between about 20 different massage therapy techniques, each one with a massage therapist dedicated to that discipline. We hated to leave and have thanked ourselves time and again for going. We ARE going to return. And we will hopefully be able to make our next stay even longer. Lupin Lodge California, Trip Report. September 2007. The bottom line is: we loved this place to the point that we joined Lupin Lodge family nudist park. I will not spend much time reviewing their facilities as that is done on their own web site. Lupin is located conveniently enough between the San Francisco/San Jose area and the pacific ocean, just off hwy 17. Find Los Gatos California on the map and you have found Lupin.You simply Have to stay in a Yurt. Our first one was nicely done and had red sheets and pillow cases, which gives me an idea as to what to shop for now. Then get up in the morning, stroll over to the restaurant for coffee and greet the sun. Oh-- the area is replete with wildlife- including a couple of stray cats...... I seem to remember a sign that said you are not supposed to allow a cat into your Yurt. Of course this is exactly what we did, and Kitty Cat spent the night snuggled in and purring between us. Lupin Lodge Report. September 2006. My wife and I spent two days and nights at Lupin Lodge near Los Gatos this September (2006). We came away with mixed feelings about it. The grounds are large and attractive, set in a wooded area. The resort is old and it shows. The swimming pool and hot tub are very nice and are clean and very well maintained. The same cannot be said about the accomodations, which are in the form of round Mongolian hard tents called yurts. These are old and not very well maintained. The carpet in ours looked like it has never been cleaned. The beds and linens were good. The toilet facilities are up a hill and quite a distance from the collection of yurts. This turns out to be a problem at night because even in September the nights there were quite cold and damp. One night there was no toilet paper available in the toilets. On the whole the resort appears to be mostly a collection of permanent residents rather than a real resort. There are, however, a fair number of day visitors who come to use the pool and spa. The cost of staying there per night turned out to be as high as at the first class hotel we stayed at in San Francisco the next several nights. One the whole, I cannot recommend Lupin lodge as a resort. It is not nearly as nice as any of resorts in Palm Springs or in Florida that we are familiar with, and that is an understatement. Meadowlark Country House is a beautiful country estate on 20 secluded acres with magnificent views to mountains and nature, two miles out of Calistoga in the heart of the Napa Valley Winecountry. All seven rooms have queensize beds, private bath, TV, VCR, AC, phone, privacy and views to nature and mountains. Some have 4 Poster beds and Frenchdoors opening to a private flagstone terrace or private deck. There is a Fireplace in the livingroom-library of the Bed and Breakfast. Meadodwlark Countryhouse has a large clothing optional, non chlorinated mineral pool, hot tub, sauna and private sunbathing decks. In house massage by appointment. Dogs are allowed with prior approval. We serve a full gourmet breakfast. Children are not recommended for safety and privacy reasons. Mecca Hills BLM Wilderness Area. October 2014. A few years ago the BLM released rules regarding nudity on their public lands.  BLM wilderness areas were described as areas where nude activities will be allowed as long as no capital improvements, picnic tables, vault toilets etc. were around. In other words outside designated camping areas.  Mecca Hills Wilderness Area seems to be just such a place.  The area is just south of Indio, CA. and within an hours drive of downtown Palm Springs. Box Canyon Rd bisects the wilderness area between the town of Mecca to the south and Interstate 10 to the north. The desert area consists of mud hills of around a couple hundred  feet high that have numerous canyons cutting through them. I recently decided to head out there to check the area out. I arrived in the area around mid-morning and drove northbound along Box Canyon Rd. from the small farming town of Mecca.  As I drove I saw many parking areas near canyons yet very few trail makers. After about 4 miles up Box Canyon Rd  I did find one marker for Sheep Hole Oasis Trail on the east side of the road and pulled in toward the parking area a hundred or so yards away. I was still very visible from the road yet the traffic was light enough that I could easily exit the car nude and with the trunk open gather my pack and hiking stick and time my short (exposed to the road) walk to the mouth of the canyon without being seen.  There is a huge bush on the left side of the canyon at the entrance and once around the bush you are hidden from highway view.After entering the canyon the trail forks to the right and ascends a couple of hundred feet or so to the top of the canyon mesa. There was a beautiful blue sky contrasting the desert and nice warm breezed bathed and wafted around me as I hiked up the hill wicking any sweat immediately away proving to me once again the advantages of hiking nude versus clothed.   Once on top of the Mesa you are rewarded with magnificent views of the surrounding area including the Salton Sea to the south.  The trail descends southeast to a small canyon that contains the small Sheephole Oasis that is visible due to the few palms surrounding it.  From here the canyon opens south into a much larger wash complex that leads to many canyons and grottos or you may hike east across the canyon ascending another ridge with more canyons to explore. There are vast nude hiking opportunities in the Mecca Hills.  I started my hike late morning on a Monday and though I saw vehicles at other trail heads I ran into no one on the trail during this hike or a shorter nude hike I took later in the day up an unnamed canyon on the west side of Box Canyon Rd. Pomponio State Beach Pomponio State Beach, California. 2007. Pomponio State Beach Pomponio State Beach is located 14.5 miles south of Half Moon Bay on Highway 1. There is a well marked parking lot that holds about 75 cars. The lot is patrolled so even when there is not attendant be sure to put the $6 day fee in envelope that is provided at the guard station. (The fine for not doing so is pretty high) There are two restrooms located along the Highway side of the parking lot. The beach changes a great deal from summer to winter. In the summer, it is about 200 to 300 feet to the water and the sand is soft fine. It is easy to walk to the south over a small creek to a large sandy beach that, depending on the time of year, has quite a bit of drift wood. In the winter the creek is turned into an unpredictable river that is almost impossible to cross. At this time of the year, the beach can be within a few feet of the base of the cliff. Again in the summer, it is a nice walk to San Gregorio beach to the north along shore bounded by waves and high cliffs. To the north on a clear day, you can clearly see the lighthouse at Pigeon Point and further up the beach, the radar towers on the point near the Half Moon Bay boat harbor. (It is about 1.5 miles from Pomponio State Beach to San Gregorio Beach.), There are several promontories of land that jut out making a series of very private beaches that are perfect for a quiet day on the ocean. On this main expanse of the beach to the north, it is rare to see more than a few people an hour walking along the beach. It is also rare to see more than 5 or 10 people spread out along the mile walk in little encampments on the upper sand. There are several places along the long section to build wind shelters with the available drift wood. In the summer a small number of people and sunbathe topless or nude in almost complete privacy. In the winter, the nice sand is pulled out to sea into deeper water leaving a coarse gravely sand that is much darker in color. The water surges much closer to the base of the cliffs and it is easy to get cut off by the rising tide between the points of land that form the pocket beaches. This is extremely dangerous! It is impossible to climb the cliffs to the safety of the trail and road above. (The cliff is from 60 to 120 feet high and straight up and made up of crumbly sand and mud-like stone.) The ocean is unsafe for swimming and there are frequently undertow conditions and swirling waves along the deeper holes in the sand along the surf line. Sequoians, Castro Valley, California. September 2007. This resort is in a perfect setting. Its convenience to urban and suburban areas is surprisingly good. My visit to the Sequoians was my first nudist experience, as well as the first trip to the Sequoians. The grounds are well kept, and the creature comforts were all I could ask for in this more rustic setting. There was an "at home" feeling to the place, and I found it easy to introduce myself as a newcomer. I entered the place as a stranger, and at the end of the day, I left as a friend. The swimming pool was nicely maintained and solar heated; perfect for swimming. Also there was a fine spa for relaxing in. The restrooms are located adjacent to the swimming pool, and there are outdoor heated shower facilities next to the rest room. A roomy recreation room is nicely appointed with a full kitchen for guest usage, a stage for musical performers, a piano for talented members to play, good size television with plenty of movies on tape. Outside the rec room are plenty of picnic tables for outdoor meals. There are plenty of trails within the property for those who like to long walks. It is hard to imagine anything that was lacking. Silver Valley Sun Club is a Clothing Optional RV Park/Campground Nestled in the Mohave Desert of Southern California just 25 minutes east of Barstow off of I-40. This is approximately half way between the Los Angeles basin and the glitz and glitter of Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada. We are visited by many travelers who appreciate the chance to relax and enjoy the special peace and freedom that the Mohave desert offers. Terra Cotta Inn in Palm Springs, California. September 2008. Website: Terra Cotta . On our way from some business in LA to Burning Man my wife and I spent a night at the Terra Cotta Inn in Palm Springs. The inn caters to couples and is clothing optional, although almost everyone, including much of the staff, was nude most of the time. The Inn is in a secluded residential area of Palm Springs, about two miles from the commercial/restaurant district. You drive down East Raquet Club Road and the Inn is only apparent because of the large number of cars parked out in front, and a little sign saying Terra Cotta Inn. The Inn was designed by the noted modernist architecture Albert Frey in the 50's, and has been extraordinarily well preserved. It has 17 rooms all on one level arranged around a large swimming pool - garden - hot tub area. There is a massage space and a grill. The ambience is friendly, with couples from their 30's to their 70's. They serve breakfast, but will help you order take out from local restaurants for other meals. Some people cooked their own dinners as well. There are some day visitors, presumably residents of the area. We were there on a Thursday in the summer, not prime time, and it was almost full. The place is immaculate. The garden is beautiful, with tall trees and flowering plants. The pool is sparking, the hot tub hot enough at night. The rooms large and comfortable, although not particularly luxurious. There are chaises and tables in the sun, and a gazebo for shade. About half of the chaises and the gazebo were under misting devices. There seemed to be an infinite supply of towels. We didn't have a massage, but talked to people who did and who enjoyed it. Although it is a couples resort, it does not cater to people who want to cross the line from nudity to sexual display. We have been to two other clothing optional places in Palm Springs - this is the best. Its only disadvantage is that it is not within walking distance of the Palm Springs restaurant district - so you have to designate a driver or take a cab. Thanks Mickey for the report. Ventana Resort and Spa at Big Sur, California. July 2006. Ventana Resort and Spa at Big Sur, CA is a lavish upscale spa and resort. On the Web it advertises a clothing-optional pool/hot tub/sauna complex. The hotel itself is wonderful. Fireplaces in the rooms, spectacular food at the restaurant, nice little touches like wine and cheese in the afternoon, a good spa for massages and scrubs. You drive to a parking lot near the resort, and the bell-people fetch your baggage in a golf cart. NO unesthetic cars in view. They also have two swimming-pool-hot-tub complexes, one textile, the other clothing optional. The pool is long enough so you can swim laps, heated for the dicey Big-Sur weather; the tub is big and deep, and not a tub, rather a small deep pool. The place is clothing optional, and 80% of the people opt for clothing, so unless you are pretty comfortable with being a nude minority, it is tough. That being said none of the textiles in the CO pool area looked askance or disturbed at our nudity. There was, after all, a textile pool for the truly uptight. However, several people ignored the signs at the clothing optional hot tub saying that towels only were allowed. I guess they were upscale gawkers. Thanks Mickey for the report.
